Seir and Paran rejected Your Torah
10
not wanting to keep it,
11
God arose and investigated them,2If they observed the seven Noachide laws which they had accepted.
12
seeing that they did not, he released them.3Even from the seven Noachide laws.
13
The High One cast them off
14
for not keeping their statutes;
15
in anger and wrath,
16
he executed vengeance against them.
17
He came accompanied from His myriads,4He came to Mt. Sinai only with some of His angels.
18
and was sanctified in the heavens;
19
from His right hand a fiery law,
20
a flashing flame.
21
With pleasant faces,
22
they joined themselves to Him,
23
they were kissed from His mouth
24
through the Ten Commandments.5They heard the first two commandments from His mouth.
25
The world became firmly established
26
though it melted due to the stipulation.6God created the world on the condition that Israel accept the Torah. The world’s existence was not secure until after Sinai.
27
As though finding great spoil, [it rejoiced]
28
at [Israel’s acceptance of] Your word.
29
The mysteries of Your precepts
30

who have ever since honored You.
32
Though they are wanderers and fugitives,
33
and exceedingly vexed,
34
in the sweetness of Your honey [the Torah]
35
they always delight.
36

of both the Written and Oral Law,
38
they prize Your word as more precious
39
than onyx and jasper [stones].
40
My heart loves those who expound Your Law,
41
who refine it with clarity,
42
who set aside their time
43
to reveal Your hidden secrets.

47
Daily they search
48

what is forbidden and what is permitted,
50
and verbally expound their decisions.
51
Between the clean and the unclean,
52
they distinguish and teach;
53
despite distress and privation,
54
their eyes are filled with light.
55
Statutes and Judgements
56
were decided on their word,
57
and yet by hostile judges
58
were they judged.
59
Remember this O Torah,
60
to strengthen those who study you;
61
those who explain your thoughts,
62
grant them aid and support.
63
Entreat your Creator
64
with words of supplication,
65
for He is your God,
66
your Creator and your Master.
67
If not for the perfect one’s [Israel]
68
constant meditation in the perfect Torah,
69
it would have been cast in a corner,
70
forsaken and desolate.
71
Heaven and earth
72
stand firm because of her,
73
and by virtue of [Israel’s] pure reverence
74
and [fulfillment of] her lucid commandments.
75
Chant mightily
76
and pour forth supplication,
77
that our prayers go through [to Him]
78
unobstructed by the clouds.
79
They approach You8lit. Him. with supplication,
80
to be cleansed from their stains [sins],
81
grant their wish,
82
be merciful and gracious.
83
Gather the numberless congregation
84
into the faithful city [Jerusalem],
85
and like a noisy flock in its pasture,
86
may she resound with multitudes of people.
87
May He rescue the captives
88
from darkness and gloom,
89
and forever encompass them
90
with strength and songs of rescue.
91
And through repentance
92
may they be gently saved from destruction,
93
may He seek the lost and strayed flock.
94
May He heal the weak,
95
and remove all sickness,
96
may Zion, the glorious city, be filled.9With multitudes of people.
