REALLY REAL SPIRITUAL MATURITY: Do you want to check to see where you are in terms of your [really real] spiritual consciousness? Do you want to evaluate the stages of spiritual maturing plus your awe of the divine and the depths of your inner vision? Do you want to know if you have really found your innermost landscape of your soul, and through it, glimpsed at the divine [through the cosmic latticework, gazing] at all the emanative iterations from further off than you can imagine, at the more exalted and separate realities that are even more exalted and [further beyond human ken than you could ever have imagined]? Have you seen what is basically beyond vision? Have you attempted to seize the emanative worlds themselves? And what of its hidden and secret light, [that light that] burns and enlightens the eyes, that awesome [light] that is also agonizing [namely, the word “agonizing” here is meant to recall King Saul saying that “agony has come upon me” (II Samuel 1:9)] Have you really seen and truly understood all that?

EFFACED AND ERASED INTO EXULTATION: This is how to discern [whether you have truly achieved any of the above]. When in the midst of [this supposed communion experience,] did you feel as though you yourself were being torn away from your position at that moment to gaze upon all exalted things? Did you feel completely effaced and erased at that moment, even to the point at which you felt afraid to fear or to love [God]? Did sweat cover you to the point of [making you feel as though you might] melt away? Did you feel ashamed even to pray to the Holy One, the great Other [Who exists] totally apart from all grandeurs of illumination and holiness? Did you see the One Who dwells [on high], that One Who may not be seen? Did you perceive the One Who remains imperceptible? Did you need to amass great inner strength to then pray with a broken spirit, with shame, with humility that you could [barely] overcome—as [you perceived] to align with the divine desire? If all that actually happened to you, then know that you managed to use your soul to see things beyond your personal ambit. And, if not, then you remained within your personal ambit and possibly were just enmeshed in fantastical contemplation. However, do not avoid such experiences, because they too [can] have great value.
