Regarding reciting a blessing on a Torah scroll not processed with gall. Some sages permit such a scroll, since our contemporary processing of the parchment makes it strong and durable on account of the slaked lime used, and the writing is more permanent than on parchment processed with gall, as required by the Talmud1This is the argumentation of Rabbeinu Tam, cited in Tosafot on Megillah 19a:1. Other sages forbid reciting a blessing on such scrolls. I asked: which opinion is correct?
