[א] "ואם לא תשמעו לי" – אם לא תשמעו למדרש חכמים. יכול למה שכתוב בתורה? כשהוא אומר "ולא תעשו את כל המצות האלה", הרי מה שכתוב בתורה אמור. הא מה אני מקיים "ואם לא תשמעו"? למדרש חכמים.

I might think (that the intent is to what is written [in the Torah]) But in "these mitzvoth" what is written in the Torah is already stated. How, then, am I to understand "if you do not hearken"? (As referring) to the midrash of the sages.
