תּוּ פָּתַח וְאָמַר, (שמות כ״ד:י״ב) וַיֹּאמֶר יְיָ' אֶל מֹשֶׁה עֲלֵה אֵלַי הָהָרָה וְגוֹ'. וְהַתּוֹרָה, דָּא תּוֹרָה שֶׁבִּכְתָּב. וְהַמִּצְוָה, דָּא תּוֹרָה שֶׁבְּעַל פֶּה. לְהֹרֹתָם כְּתִיב חָסֵר, כְּמָה דְאַתְּ אָמֵר (שיר השירים ג׳:ד׳) וְאֶל חֶדֶר הוֹרָתִי. הָכָא אִית לְאִסְתַּכְּלָא, לְהוֹרֹתָם דְּמִי, אִי תֵּימָא הוֹרֹתָם דְּיִשְׂרָאֵל, לָאו הָכֵי, דְּהָא יִשְׂרָאֵל לָא אַדְכָּרוּ בְּהַאי קְרָא. אֶלָּא הוֹרֹתָם דְּתוֹרָה וּמִצְוָה. וּמַאי הִיא. דָּא (אתר) יַיִן דְּמִנְטְרָא. בְּגִין דְּכָל כְּתִיבָה דְּסֵפֶר עִלָּאָה תַּמָּן שַׁרְיָא, וּמִתַּמָּן נָפְקָא תּוֹרָה, וְעַל דָּא קָרֵינָן תּוֹרָה שֶׁבִּכְתָּב. וְדָא הוּא אֲשֶׁר כָּתַבְתִּי לְהֹרֹתָם, לְהֹרֹתָם וַדַּאי. (כמה דאת אמר ואל חדר הורתי)

He further discoursed on the verse: “And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me, and I will give thee… the law and the commandment which I have written to teach them” (Ex. 24, 12). ‘The word lehorotham (to teach them) may be read lehoratham (to her that conceived them), the “them” referring to the law and the commandment. “She that conceived them” is the place of “treasured wine”, because all writing of the Supernal Book commences there, and from thence issues the Torah which we call the Written Torah.

תּוֹרָה שֶׁבְּעַל פֶּה, תּוֹרָה אָחֳרָא, (ויקהל ר"א) דְּקַיְּימָא עַל פֶּה. מַאן אִיהוּ פֶּה. דָּא הוּא דַּעַת, דְּאִיהוּ פֶּה דְּסֵפֶר וּכְתִיבָה. וְתוֹרָה דָּא, הִיא תּוֹרָה אָחֳרָא, דְּאִקְרֵי תּוֹרָה שֶׁבְּעַל פֶּה, דְּאִיהִי קַיְּימָא עַל הַהוּא פֶּה דְּאִיהִי תּוֹרָה שֶׁבִּכְתָּב, בְּגִין כַּךְ אִסְתָּלִיק מֹשֶׁה בְּכֹלָּא, עַל כָּל שְׁאָר נְבִיאֵי מְהֵימְנֵי, דִּכְתִּיב וְאֶתְּנָה לְךָ, לְךָ דַּיְיקָא.

The other Torah is called the Oral Torah (Torah of the mouth), the “mouth” being Knowledge which is the mouth of book and writing.
