And know that there is yet another aspect of the issur of accepting rechiluth, as I shall explain. For even if it is clear to him that what was told him is true, that one spoke or did something against his will, still, he must be judged in the scales of good and merit, that his intent in this was not to antagonize him, but something else, which, if understood on its own terms, would not be considered a wrong against him! And it is well known that it is a mitzvah according to the din to judge one in the scales of merit. And he, because he did not want to judge him in the scales of merit, came to see what the other did as a wrong, and held it against him in his heart because of this. Therefore, he is called because of this "an accepter of rechiluth."
וְדַע, דְּיֵשׁ עוֹד חֵלֶק בְּאִסוּר קַבָּלַת רְכִילוּת וּכְמוֹ שֶׁאֲבָאֵר, שֶׁאֲפִלּוּ אִם נִתְבָּרֵר לוֹ שֶׁהוּא אֱמֶת, מַה שֶּׁסִפְּרוּ לוֹ, שֶׁאֶחָד דִּבֵּר עָלָיו, אוֹ עָשָׂה מַעֲשֶׂה נֶגֶד רְצוֹנוֹ, (ח) אַךְ יֵשׁ בַּדָּבָר הַזֶּה לְשָׁפְטוֹ לְצַד הַטּוֹב וּלְצַּד הַזְּכוּת, שֶׁלֹּא הָיְתָה כַּוָּנָתוֹ לְהַקְנִיטוֹ בָּזֶה, רַק עִנְיָן אַחֵר, שֶׁלְּפִי הָעִנְיָן הַהוּא לֹא יִהְיֶה תּוּ {שוב} עַוְלָה עָלָיו, וְיָדוּעַ דְּמִצְוָה מִן הַדִּין לָדוּן אוֹתוֹ לְכַף זְכוּת, וְהוּא עַל יְדֵי שֶׁלֹּא רָצָּה לָדוּן אוֹתוֹ לְכַף זְכוּת, מִמֵּילָא נִשְׁתַּרְבֵּב עָלָיו עִנְיָן זֶה לְעַוְלָה, מַה שֶּׁדִּבֵּר עָלָיו אוֹ עָשָׂה מַעֲשֶׂה נֶגְדּוֹ, וְנָקַט לֵה בְּלִבּוֹ עָלָיו עֲבוּר זֶה, לָכֵן נִקְרָא מִשּׁוּם זֶה בְּשֵׁם מְקַבֵּל רְכִילוּת, (ועַיֵּן לְקַמָּן בִּכְלָל ו' סג בָּהֶעָרָה, מַה שֶּׁצִּיַּרְנוּ שְׁנֵי צִיּוּרִים לְעִנְיַן קַּבָּלַת רְכִילוּת, וְהַכּל בָּא עַל יְדֵי זֶה שֶׁלֹּא דָּן אוֹתָם לְכַף זְכוּת).
