HUMBLY SURRENDER AS A SPIRITUAL WARRIOR: Do not attempt rationalize your [behavior] by saying to yourself, “So what shall I do? My libidinal impulses are overpowering me.” Alas, this only proves that you are not really applying yourself enough—you are just being a lazybones [who stops at the first level of self-development, content to be self-aware of the inner impulses]. Contemplate this for a moment: did your think that God deployed you in this world just to sleep your way through life, just to relax, repose and please yourself? God deployed you here in this world to be a loyal warrior and wage the inner existential war.

DEPLOYED INTO THE INNER SPIRITUAL BATTLE: So do not be pleased and boast about your excited impulses [by concluding that] the tumult of your roaring temptations are a sign of your your [spiritual bearing] and asking [yourself], “Am I not fighting the holy war against the very impulses that God deployed me to take on in battle?” Who can vouchsafe that your passions are heaven-sent and not just [a function of] your own stained humanity? Even in the Netherworld, there is a certain angel named Duma whose job it is to throw your own excrement at your face, [acidly] saying [as he does so], “Take what you yourself have created.” And does it not seem possible that life here [on earth] is some form of [earthly] Netherworld?

Then you not only need not mourn that you failed, much less be depressed that your libidinal impulse could not be conquered. Instead, you [may and should become aware that God is your] partner in strengthening yourself to wage war. Your entire life may be an earthly version of Netherworld where your own excrement is flying all over the place, but [instead of merely ruing that fact], you shall have come to clean up the mess created your [own libidinal] impulses.
