ושטוען ראובן על אחיו אני והם נתפשנו ביד ההגמון ופשרנו באלפים. ועשינו בינינו שוה בשוה חלק כחלק. ולא היה לי ה' מאות לבנים. ושוב מחל לנו ההגמון ה' מאות. ורוצה אני שיחזירו לי חלקי לפי החשבון. ואחיו אומר וכו'. לא ידעתי במאי מספקא לכו כי נ"ל דבר פשוט שלפי מה שנתנו יטלו כמו כן בממון החוזר להם על ידי מחילת ההגמון כדאמרינן בכור נוטל פי שנים. לפיכך יצא עליהם שטר חוב בכור נותן פי שנים בפרק יש נוחלין. (בבא בתרא דף קכד) וכמו שנים שהטילו לכיס זה מנה וזה מאתיים וקנו שור לטביחה. ועומד לטביחה פחתו והותירו כך הם חולקין:
Q. A and his brothers were arrested by the bishop. They subsequently agreed to pay him a ransom of two thousand [white denarii?]. The brothers agreed among themselves that each one contribute an equal amount to the payment of the ransom. A, however, was short five hundred "white denarii" [and his brothers had to make up the difference]. Subsequently the bishop agreed to reduce the payment by five hundred [white denarii?].
