1(דברים כ יח) לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר לֹא יְלַמְּדוּ אֶתְכֶם לַעֲשׂוֹת, מְלַמֵּד שֶׁאִם עוֹשִׂים תְּשׁוּבָה אֵין נֶהֱרָגִים.(Devarim 20:18) "So that they not teach you to do according to all their abominations": whereby we are taught if they repented, they are not killed.2וַחֲטָאתֶם לַה׳ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם, אִם לֹא עֲשִׂיתֶם כָּל הָאָמוּר בָּעִנְיָן – נִקְרָאִים אַתֶּם חַטָּאִים לַה׳ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם."and you sin to the L-rd your G-d": If you do not act in accordance with all that is said here you are called "sinners to the L-rd."
