  1. 1

    Pisqa’ 15050H:188; JN1:15
    1. “By the testimony of two witnesses or three witnesses
shall the condemned to die be put to death” (Dt.17:6).
Is it possible for me to infer that
he alone is put to death
[at the testimony of two or three]?
    How do I know that
    [this rule of testimony]
    includes all other capital offenses?
    The Teaching states:
“By the testimony of two witnesses or three witnesses
shall the condemned to die be put to death” (Dt.17:6). 51Cf. Sifre Nu. 161.

  2. 2

How do I know that, [in capital cases,]
one witness alone cannot present evidence for prosecution?
    The Teaching states:
“He shall not be put to death by the testimony of one witness” (Dt.17:6).

  3. 3

And how do I know that
a disciple [of sages] cannot argue for prosecution?52//M. San.5:4
    The Teaching states:
“He shall not be put to death by the testimony of one witness” (Dt.17:6).53F:205, ls.3-4 notes the absence of this material from many versions.
