[א] "והבאתי עליכם חרב נוקמת נקם ברית" – נקם בברית ונקם שאינו בברית; איזו נקם שאינו בברית (ס"א איזו נקם שהוא בברית)? כגון סימוי עינים שסימו את עיני צדקיהו מלך יהודה. "ונאספתם אל עריכם" – מפני המצור. "ושלחתי דבר בתוככם" – שיהא המות הורג אתכם מבפנים ובעלי דבב מקיפים אתכם מבחוץ. "ונתתם ביד אויב" – הלכה אין מלינים את המת בירושלים, וכשהם מוציאים אותו לקברו קוברי מתיהם ניתנים ביד אויב.
