Selichot Nusach Lita Linear · Sixth Day, Chapter 5

‹›
  1. 1

He Who dwells in hidden, high heavens,

  3. 3

    my Shield, my Protector,

  4. 4

    listen to my cry,

  5. 5

    give ear to my song,

  6. 6

    חַטֵּא אֶת־חַטָּאתִי,

    cleanse my sin;

  7. 7

O Holy One, grant my hope—

  8. 8

give me my life as my request,

  9. 9

and my people’s as my petition.

  10. 10

    Deal charitably with Your people,

  11. 11

Holy One [do it] for Your Name’s sake,

  12. 12

for Your perfect ones have vanished,

  13. 13

[the righteous] who appeased Your anger,

  14. 14

    וּמַגִּישֵׁי לַחְמֶךָ,

    also [the priests] who brought Your offerings;

  15. 15

therefore, I have come now [with prayer].

  16. 16

Give me my life as a request,

  17. 17

and my people’s as my petition.

  18. 18

Drown the sins of my youth,

  19. 19

and let the sea turn them about;6Let them be turned to virtue through repentance.

  20. 20

exalt the righteousness of our ancestors,

  21. 21

and let the prayers of the humble

  22. 22

    adorn You as a crown.

  23. 23

And when You purify me as in a crucible,

  24. 24

    my accuser [Satan] will bewail,

  25. 25

    כִּי לִבִּי לְךָ כָּלִיל,

    for my heart will be whole with You;

  26. 26

therefore, I have come now [with prayer].

  27. 27

Give me my life as my request,

  28. 28

and my people’s as my petition.

  29. 29

Gracious and Living One, be gracious to me,

  30. 30

the sound of my cry is in my throat,

  31. 31

answer me when You hear it.

  32. 32

    Increase Your forgiveness,

  33. 33

    inscribe me for life,

  34. 34

let my righteousness testify for me.

  35. 35

Give me my life as my request,

  36. 36

and my people’s as my petition.

  37. 37

This is my Almighty, deliver me,

  38. 38

    וּזְכֻיּוֹת הַכְרִיעָה.

    and incline the scale in my favor;

  39. 39

    reveal Yourself from Your Dwelling,

  40. 40

    חֹן סֹעֲרָה וְסֹעָה.

    and grace Your storm-tossed nation;

  41. 41

    destroy my slanderer [Satan]

  42. 42

let him not prove Your flock guilty,

  43. 43

    lest I witness misfortune—

  44. 44

    the destruction of my kin.

  45. 45

Give me my life as my request,

  46. 46

and my people’s as my petition.

  47. 47

    Sanctify Your holy Name

  48. 48

which they7The nations that destroyed the Temples. profaned in Your Sanctuary,

  49. 49

and [killed] Your holy priests8Lit. the Aharonites, descendants of Aharon, the first priest of God.

  50. 50

    who brought Your burnt-offerings.

  51. 51

For what can [Israel] Your holy ones do

  52. 52

now that Your offerings have ceased?9They have no offerings to atone their iniquities.

  53. 53

Therefore we beseech You to regard

  54. 54

the prayers of Your holy ones

  55. 55

    as if they offered heifers.

  56. 56

Give me my life as my request,

  57. 57

and my people’s as my petition.

  58. 58

Accept [the prayers of] Your servants

  59. 59

    לְמַעַן שֵׁם כְּבוֹדֶךָ.

    for the sake of Your glorious Name;

  60. 60

they proclaim Your Unity and testify

  61. 61

    כִּי אֵין בִּלְעָדֶיךָ.

    that there is none beside You;

  62. 62

please seek out Your lost ones [Israel]

  63. 63

as they approach You in prayer,

  64. 64

for Your love for them is great,

  65. 65

    therefore, I seek Your Presence.

  66. 66

Give me my life as my request,

  67. 67

and my people’s as my petition.

  68. 68

Let my voice be as desirable

  69. 69

    כְּמֵחִים תּוֹךְ צִיּוֹנָה

    as fat offerings offered in Zion;

  70. 70

please turn to me for goodness

  71. 71

and let me find grace [in Your eyes],

  72. 72

for to whom shall I turn now

  73. 73

    that I am without support?

  74. 74

I pray, forgive those who hope in You,

  75. 75

and let them hear “I have forgiven.”

  76. 76

Give me my life as my request,

  77. 77

and my people’s as my petition.

  78. 78

    Almighty! King!

  79. 79

Who sits on the throne of mercy,

  80. 80

    governs with kindness

  81. 81

forgives the iniquities of His people.

  82. 82

He removes their sins one by one,

  83. 83

    increasing forgiveness to sinners,

  84. 84

    and pardon to transgressors.

  85. 85

    Acting righteously

  86. 86

    עִם כָּל בָּשָׂר וָרֽוּחַ.

    with all who are of flesh and spirit;

  87. 87

    not according to their wickedness

  88. 88

    does He repay them.

  89. 89

    Almighty!

  90. 90

    You instructed us to recite

  91. 91

    שְׁלשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה.

    the thirteen Divine attributes;

  92. 92

    remember unto us this day

  93. 93

the covenant of thirteen Divine attributes,

  94. 94

    as You made them known

  95. 95

to the humble Moses of old,

  96. 96

    as it is written,

  97. 97

“And Adonoy descended in the cloud,

  98. 98

    and stood with him there,

  99. 99

    and proclaimed the Name, Adonoy.

  100. 100

    Congregation and Chazzan:

  101. 101

    וַיַּֽעֲבֹר יְהֹוָה עַל פָּנָיו

    And Adonoy passed before him [Moses];

  102. 102

    and proclaimed:

  103. 103

    Adonoy, Adonoy,

  104. 104

    Almighty, Merciful, Gracious,

  105. 105

    Slow to Anger,

  106. 106

and Abundant in Kindness, and Truth.

  107. 107

    Keeper of kindness

  108. 108

    for thousands of generations,

  109. 109

    Endurer of iniquity, and transgression,

  110. 110

    וְחַטָּאָה

    and sin;

  111. 111

and Acquitter of those who repent.”

  112. 112

“And pardon our iniquity and our sin,

  113. 113

and take us for Your inheritance.”

  114. 114

Pardon us our Father, for we have sinned,

  115. 115

forgive us our King, for we have transgressed.

  116. 116

    “For You, my Master,

  117. 117

    are good and forgiving,

  118. 118

    and abounding in kindness

  119. 119

to all who call upon You.”
