Selichot Nusach Lita Linear · Sixth Day, Chapter 3

‹›
  1. 1

Our God, and God of our fathers!

  3. 3

I will call with Your Name,

  4. 4

I will strengthen myself to grasp You,

  5. 5

my prayer precedes the morning watch,

  6. 6

    I awaken the dawn.

  7. 7

I approach the Ark to speak clear words,

  8. 8

I have prepared my speech with great care

  9. 9

so that my lips may move freely.

  10. 10

    Behold, my desire is

  11. 11

that God will give ear and answer me,

  12. 12

but where is the competent petitioner

  13. 13

    and who is worthy

  14. 14

to say, “I have cleansed my heart

  15. 15

    and my deeds are truthful,

  16. 16

    I am free from transgression

  17. 17

and the work of my hands is clean?”

  18. 18

    Deal magnanimously with the guilty

  19. 19

    and do not exterminate them,

  20. 20

let their prayer be esteemed as an offering

  21. 21

and their supplication as sweet incense.

  22. 22

    Raise Your bent ones

  23. 23

that they may lift up their heads,

  24. 24

let no sins be found in them,

  25. 25

neither secret ones or public ones.

  26. 26

Be a stronghold in times of distress

  27. 27

    לְבָךְ חוֹסֶה.

    for those who trust in You;

  28. 28

do not banish into exile, the wanderers,

  29. 29

    those who stray like sheep,

  30. 30

place into Your bottle, the tears

  31. 31

with which I cause my couch to melt,

  32. 32

let my strength be in You,

  33. 33

    My Strength and Refuge.

  34. 34

Rescue them and bring them relief,

  35. 35

    release Your bound ones,

  36. 36

they cry to You, they knock at Your door,

  37. 37

they call upon You in distress with prayer,

  38. 38

they have been robbed by thieves,

  39. 39

the wicked have surrounded the righteous.

  40. 40

    [Almighty] Master and Judge,

  41. 41

why have You concealed Your Presence?

  42. 42

    The shouts of Your adversaries—

  43. 43

    those who rise against You—

  44. 44

    הָדֵק וְכַלֵּה.

    crush them and destroy them;

  45. 45

for the knowers of Your secrets—1The Torah.

  46. 46

may Your kindness be reserved, always.

  47. 47

    Please! Return the dispersed

  48. 48

    and gather the exiled,

  49. 49

raise up the lowly to the heights,

  50. 50

and bring the dejected up [to Jerusalem].

  51. 51

Let them say among the nations:

  52. 52

“Adonoy has done great things for them,

  53. 53

the desolate has become [a garden of] Eden,

  54. 54

the ruins have become a fortress.”

  55. 55

Save those who trust in You,

  56. 56

    נָסוּ בְּצִלְּךָ לַחֲסוֹת.

    those who sought refuge in Your shelter;

  57. 57

regard [the shame of] their oppression,

  58. 58

this must be done by You.

  59. 59

Hear the prayers of the downtrodden,

  60. 60

    look at his crushed spirit,

  61. 61

    accept his words favorably—

  62. 62

    the outpouring of his prayer.

  63. 63

Strengthen the weak, encourage the faint,

  64. 64

    grant him relief

  65. 65

for You are the Sculptor of mountains

  66. 66

    and the Creator of winds,

  67. 67

and You relate to man, his conversation.

  68. 68

    Almighty! King!

  69. 69

Who sits on the throne of mercy,

  70. 70

    governs with kindness

  71. 71

forgives the iniquities of His people.

  72. 72

He removes their sins one by one,

  73. 73

    increasing forgiveness to sinners,

  74. 74

    and pardon to transgressors.

  75. 75

    Acting righteously

  76. 76

    עִם כָּל בָּשָׂר וָרֽוּחַ.

    with all who are of flesh and spirit;

  77. 77

    not according to their wickedness

  78. 78

    does He repay them.

  79. 79

    Almighty!

  80. 80

    You instructed us to recite

  81. 81

    שְׁלשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה.

    the thirteen Divine attributes;

  82. 82

    remember unto us this day

  83. 83

the covenant of thirteen Divine attributes,

  84. 84

    as You made them known

  85. 85

to the humble Moses of old,

  86. 86

    as it is written,

  87. 87

“And Adonoy descended in the cloud,

  88. 88

    and stood with him there,

  89. 89

    and proclaimed the Name, Adonoy.

  90. 90

    Congregation and Chazzan:

  91. 91

And Adonoy passed before him [Moses],

  92. 92

    and proclaimed:

  93. 93

    Adonoy, Adonoy,

  94. 94

    Almighty, Merciful, Gracious,

  95. 95

    Slow to Anger,

  96. 96

and Abundant in Kindness, and Truth.

  97. 97

    Keeper of kindness

  98. 98

    for thousands of generations,

  99. 99

    Endurer of iniquity, and transgression,

  100. 100

    וְחַטָּאָה

    and sin;

  101. 101

and Acquitter of those who repent.

  102. 102

“And pardon our iniquity and our sin,

  103. 103

and take us for Your inheritance.”

  104. 104

Pardon us our Father, for we have sinned,

  105. 105

forgive us our King, for we have transgressed.

  106. 106

    “For You, my Master,

  107. 107

    are good and forgiving,

  108. 108

    and abounding in kindness

  109. 109

to all who call upon You.”

  110. 110

    Adonoy, God of Hosts,

  111. 111

    מִי־כָמוֹךָ חֲסִין יָהּ

    who is like You, a mighty God;

  112. 112

and Your faithfulness is round about You.

  113. 113

    אֲדֹנָי שִׁמְעָה בְקוֹלֵנוּ,

    My Master, hear our voice;

  114. 114

    תִּהְיֶינָה אָזְנֶיךָ קַשֻּׁבוֹת,

    let Your ears be attentive

  115. 115

to the voice of our supplication.

  116. 116

    Unto Adonoy, our God,

  117. 117

    is mercy and forgiveness,

  118. 118

though we have been disloyal to Him.

  119. 119

Do not enter into judgement with us,

  120. 120

for no living soul will be justified before You.

  121. 121

As a father has compassion on his children

  122. 122

so do You have compassion on us, Adonoy.

  123. 123

    לַיהֹוָה הַיְשׁוּעָה,

    Deliverance is Adonoy’s;

  124. 124

upon Your people is Your blessing. Selah!

  125. 125

Adonoy of Hosts is with us,

  126. 126

a stronghold for us is the God of Jacob. Selah!

  127. 127

    Adonoy of Hosts!

  128. 128

fortunate is the man who trusts in You.

  129. 129

    יְהֹוָה הוֹשִֽׁיעָה,

    Adonoy, deliver us;

  130. 130

the King will answer us on the day we call.

  131. 131

“Please pardon the sins of this nation

  132. 132

    in accordance with the greatness

  133. 133

    חַסְדֶּֽךָ.

    of Your lovingkindness;

  134. 134

and as You forgave this people

  135. 135

from when it left Egypt until now.”

  136. 136

    And there it is said:

  137. 137

    “And Adonoy said,

  138. 138

I have pardoned [them] as you have asked.”

  139. 139

Incline Your ear, my God, and hear,

  140. 140

open Your eyes and behold our desolate places,

  141. 141

    וְהָעִיר אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָא שִׁמְךָ עָלֶֽיהָ

    and the city which is called by Your Name;

  142. 142

for it is not on account of our righteousness

  143. 143

that we let fall our supplication before You,

  144. 144

but because of Your great mercy.

  145. 145

My Master, hear! My Master, pardon!

  146. 146

My Master, listen and take action,

  147. 147

    do not delay!

  148. 148

    For Your sake, my God,

  149. 149

    because Your Name is proclaimed

  150. 150

over Your city and over Your people.
