יד. חתום בו מחברו יצחק הקטן ברבי מאיר חזק ואמץ:

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ

Our God and God of our fathers!

יִשְׂרָאֵל עַמְּךָ תְּחִנָּה עוֹרְכִים.

Your people Israel set prayers [before You],

שֶׁהֵם מְצֵרִים וּלְהִוָּשֵׁעַ צְרִיכִים.

for they are in distress and need deliverance;

צָרֵיהֶם עֲלֵיהֶם עֹל מַאֲרִיכִים.

their adversaries add to the yoke [of exile],

כָּל זֹאת הִגַּעְתָּם

all this has befallen them,

וְשִׁמְךָ מְבָרְכִים:

yet Your Name they bless.

חוֹלִי וּמַכְאוֹב

Their illness and suffering

לְהִכָּתֵב לֹא נִמְסַר.

is indescribable,

עֲלוּבִים מִנֹעַר

they have been humiliated from their youth,

וּמֵהֶם לֹא הוּסַר.

and it has not been removed from them;

קָדוֹשׁ בְּיָדְךָ

Holy One, it is in Your hand

לְפַתֵּחַ מוּסָר.

to release the prisoner

כְּאֻמָּנוּתְךָ הַנְקִיָּה

according to Your pure attribute [of mercy],

וְלֹא כְּאֻמָּנוּת בָּשָׂר:

unlike the attribute of man.

הַלּוֹבֵשׁ צְדָקָה

He is garbed in righteousness

וְלוֹ כַמְּעִיל עֲטוּיָה.

which adorns Him like a cloak [of royalty],

וּמִמַּכָּה עַצְמָהּ מְתַקֵּן רְטִיָּה.

from the wound itself, He prepares the cure;

קוֹמֵם עֲדָתְךָ

raise up Your congregation

מִנְּפִילָתָהּ הַמְטוּיָה.

from its lowly fall

בְּכֹחֲךָ הַגָּדוֹל וּבִזְרֹעֲךָ הַנְטוּיָה:

with Your great strength and outstretched arm.

בְּאַהֲבָתְךָ וּבְחֶמְלָתְךָ

With Your love and compassion

מְנַשֵּׂא וּמְנַטֵּל.

You uplifted and exalted [Your people Israel]

עַצַת הָרָעִים תִמְחֶה

[we beseech You therefore] to eradicate the counsel of the wicked

וּמַחְשְׁבוֹתָם תְּבַטֵּל.

and to annul their [evil] plans against us;

רַבָּה מְהוּמָה בֵּינֵיהֶם הַטֵּל.

inflict them with great turmoil,

וּמַלְאָךְ אַכְזָרִי דוֹחֶה

and let the cruel angel thrust them

וּמְטַלְטֵל:

and throw them [into exile].

בַּעֲבוּר כְּבוֹד עַצְמְךָ

For the sake of Your honor,

וְשֵׁם קָדְשְׁךָ הַמְהֻלָּל.

and Your holy Name, that is greatly extolled,

נוֹרָאוֹת הַפְלֵא

perform awesome wonders [for us]

לְבַל בָּעַמִּים יִתְחַלָּל.

lest [Your Name] be desecrated among nations;

יוֹעֲצֵיהֶם וְאֵיתָנֵיהֶם

lead their advisors and men of power

תּוֹלִיךְ שׁוֹלָל.

to total confusion,

וּבָהֶם תְּעוֹלֵל.

and do to them

כַּאֲשֶׁר בִּי הִתְעוֹלָל:

as they did to us.

מֵקִים מֵעָפָר דָּל

Raise up the poor from the dust

וְאֶבְיוֹן מֵאַשְׁפָּה.

and the needy from the dunghills,

כְּנֵסָתְךָ

Your community—

אַל תִּתֵּן לְכָלָה וּלְחֶרְפָּה.

let them not be destroyed and humiliated;

אִם בְּפִקּוּדֶיךָ מִתְעַצֶּלֶת

if she has been casual regarding Your precepts

וּמַרְפָּה.

and negligent [in their performance,]

עַל כָּל פְּשָׁעֶיהָ

may all her transgressions

אַהֲבָתְךָ תְהֵא מְחַפָּה:

be covered over by Your love.

יְתֵרָה חִבָּתָם לְפָנֶיךָ

They are most precious in Your Presence,

אֲדוֹנֵי הָאֲדוֹנִים.

Master of masters,

בֵּין כַּךְ וּבֵין כַּךְ

regardless of their conduct

קְרוּאִים לְךָ בָּנִים.

they are called Your children.

רַחֲמֶיךָ יְקַדְּמוּנוּ

Let Your mercy go before them,

אֱלֹהֵי עֶלְיוֹנִים וְתַחְתּוֹנִים.

God of the high and lowly

טֶרֶם יִשְׁטְפוּנוּ הַמַּיִם הַזֵּידוֹנִים:

before they are drowned in the wicked flood.

חֲפֵצֵי קִרְבָתְךָ עַל כָּל הַבָּאוֹת.

They desire Your nearness above all else,

הָחִישָׁה לָמוֹ

hasten for their sake

יְשׁוּעוֹת הַנִּבָּאוֹת.

to bring the deliverance that was prophesied.

קָדוֹשׁ

Holy One,

עֲשֵׂה עִמָּם לְטוֹבָה אוֹת.

let them be a sign of [Your] beneficence.

חָזָק וְאַמִּיץ גּוֹאֲלָם

Strong and mighty is their redeemer—

יְהֹוָה צְבָאוֹת:

Adonoy of Hosts.

אֵל מֶֽלֶךְ.

Almighty! King!

יוֹשֵׁב עַל כִּסֵּא רַחֲמִים.

Who sits on the throne of mercy,

מִתְנַהֵג בַּחֲסִידוּת.

governs with kindness

מוֹחֵל עֲו‍ֹנוֹת עַמּוֹ.

forgives the iniquities of His people.

מַעֲבִיר רִאשׁוֹן רִאשׁוֹן.

He removes their sins one by one,

מַרְבֶּה מְחִילָה לְחַטָּאִים

increasing forgiveness to sinners,

וּסְלִיחָה לְפוֹשְׁעִים.

and pardon to transgressors.

עוֹשֶׂה צְדָקוֹת

Acting righteously

עִם כָּל בָּשָׂר וָרֽוּחַ.

with all who are of flesh and spirit;

לֹא כְרָעָתָם

not according to their wickedness

תִּגְמוֹל:

does He repay them.

אֵל

Almighty!

הוֹרֵיתָ לָנוּ לוֹמַר

You instructed us to recite

שְׁלשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה.

the thirteen Divine attributes;

וּזְכָר לָֽנוּ הַיּוֹם

remember unto us this day

בְּרִית שְׁלשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה.

the covenant of thirteen Divine attributes,

כְּמוֹ שֶׁהוֹדַֽעְתָּ

as You made them known

לֶעָנָו מִקֶּֽדֶם.

to the humble Moses of old,

כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב

as it is written,

וַיֵּרֶד יְהֹוָה בֶּֽעָנָן

“And Adonoy descended in the cloud,

וַיִּתְיַצֵּב עִמּוֹ שָׁם

and stood with him there,

וַיִּקְרָא בְשֵׁם יְהֹוָה:

and proclaimed the Name, Adonoy.

קהל וחזן:

Congregation and Chazzan:

וַיַּֽעֲבֹר יְהֹוָה עַל פָּנָיו

And Adonoy passed before him [Moses],

וַיִּקְרָא:

and proclaimed:

יְהֹוָה יְהֹוָה

Adonoy, Adonoy,

אֵל רַחוּם וְחַנּוּן

Almighty, Merciful, Gracious,

אֶֽרֶךְ אַפַּֽיִם

Slow to Anger,

וְרַב חֶֽסֶד וֶֽאֱמֶת:

and Abundant in Kindness, and Truth.

נֹצֵר חֶֽסֶד

Keeper of kindness

לָאֲלָפִים

for thousands of generations,

נֹשֵׂא עָו‍ֹן וָפֶֽשַׁע

Endurer of iniquity, and transgression,

וְחַטָּאָה

and sin;

וְנַקֵּה:

and Acquitter of those who repent.

וְסָלַחְתָּ לַעֲו‍ֹנֵֽנוּ וּלְחַטָּאתֵֽנוּ

“And pardon our iniquity and our sin,

וּנְחַלְתָּֽנוּ:

and take us for Your inheritance.”

סְלַח לָֽנוּ אָבִֽינוּ כִּי חָטָֽאנוּ.

Pardon us our Father, for we have sinned,

מְחַל לָֽנוּ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ כִּי פָשָֽׁעְנוּ:

forgive us our King, for we have transgressed.

כִּי אַתָּה אֲדֹנָי

“For You, my Master,

טוֹב וְסַלָּח

are good and forgiving,

וְרַב חֶֽסֶד

and abounding in kindness

לְכָל קֹרְאֶֽיךָ:

to all who call upon You.”

אֵלֶיךָ יְהוָה נַפְשֵׁנוּ נִשָּׂא׃

Unto You, Adonoy, we lift up our souls.

נִשָּׂא לְבָבֵנוּ אֶל־כַּפָּיִם

We lift our hearts with our hands

אֶל־אֵל בַּשָּׁמָיִם׃

to the Almighty in heaven.

כִּי־עָלֶיךָ הֹרַגְנוּ כָל־הַיּוֹם

For Your sake, we are murdered all the day,

נֶחְשַׁבְנוּ כְּצֹאן טִבְחָה׃

we are considered as sheep for the slaughter.

עוּרָה

Be aroused!

לָמָּה תִישַׁן אֲדֹנָי,

Why do You appear as asleep, my Master?

הָקִיצָה אַל־תִּזְנַח לָנֶצַח׃

Awaken, do not forsake us forever.

לָמָּה־פָנֶיךָ תַסְתִּיר

Why do You conceal Your Presence,

תִּשְׁכַּח עָנְיֵנוּ

have You forgotten our suffering

וְלַחֲצֵנוּ׃

and our oppression?

כִּי שָׁחָה לֶעָפָר נַפְשֵׁנוּ

For our souls are bowed to the dust,

דָּבְקָה לָאָרֶץ בִּטְנֵנוּ׃

our bowels cling to the earth.

קוּמָה עֶזְרָתָה לָּנוּ

Arise—come to our aid

וּפְדֵנוּ לְמַעַן חַסְדֶּךָ׃

and redeem us for the sake of Your kindness.

כְּרַחֵם אָב עַל בָּנִים

As a father has compassion on his children

כֵּן תְּרַחֵם יְהֹוָה עָלֵֽינוּ:

so do You have compassion on us, Adonoy.

לַיהֹוָה הַיְשׁוּעָה,

Deliverance is Adonoy’s;

עַל עַמְּךָ בִרְכָתֶֽךָ סֶּֽלָה:

upon Your people is Your blessing. Selah!

יְהֹוָה צְבָאוֹת עִמָּֽנוּ

Adonoy of Hosts is with us,

מִשְׂגָּב לָֽנוּ, אֱלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב סֶֽלָה:

a stronghold for us is the God of Jacob. Selah!

יְהֹוָה צְבָאוֹת,

Adonoy of Hosts!

אַשְׁרֵי אָדָם בֹּֽטֵֽחַ בָּךְ:

fortunate is the man who trusts in You.

יְהֹוָה הוֹשִֽׁיעָה,

Adonoy, deliver us;

הַמֶּֽלֶךְ יַעֲנֵֽנוּ בְיוֹם קָרְאֵנוּ:

the King will answer us on the day we call.

סְלַח נָא לַעֲו‍ֹן הָעָם הַזֶּה,

“Please pardon the sins of this nation

כְּגֹֽדֶל

in accordance with the greatness

חַסְדֶּֽךָ.

of Your lovingkindness;

וְכַאֲשֶׁר נָשָֽׂאתָה לָעָם הַזֶּה.

and as You forgave this people

מִמִּצְרַֽיִם וְעַד הֵֽנָּה.

from when it left Egypt until now.”

וְשָׁם נֶאֱמַר:

And there it is said:

וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה

“And Adonoy said,

סָלַֽחְתִּי כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ:

I have pardoned [them] as you have asked.”

הַטֵּה אֱלֹהַי אָזְנְךָ וּשְׁמָע,

Incline Your ear, my God, and hear,

פְּקַח עֵינֶֽיךָ וּרְאֵה שֹׁמְמֹתֵֽינוּ,

open Your eyes and behold our desolate places,

וְהָעִיר אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָא שִׁמְךָ עָלֶֽיהָ

and the city which is called by Your Name;

כִּי לֹא עַל צִדְקֹתֵֽינוּ,

for it is not on account of our righteousness

אֲנַֽחְנוּ מַפִּילִים תַּחֲנוּנֵֽינוּ לְפָנֶֽיךָ,

that we let fall our supplication before You,

כִּי עַל רַחֲמֶֽיךָ הָרַבִּים:

but because of Your great mercy.

אֲדֹנָי שְׁמָֽעָה, אֲדֹנָי סְלָֽחָה,

My Master, hear! My Master, pardon!

אֲדֹנָי הַקְשִֽׁיבָה וַעֲשֵׂה,

My Master, listen and take action,

אַל תְּאַחַר.

do not delay!

לְמַעַנְךָ אֱלֹהַי,

For Your sake, my God,

כִּי שִׁמְךָ נִקְרָא

because Your Name is proclaimed

עַל עִירְךָ וְעַל עַמֶּֽךָ:

over Your city and over Your people.
