1אֱלֹהַי בֹּשְׁתִּי וְנִכְלַמְתִּי לַעֲמֹד לְפָנֶיךָ לְדַעְתִּי.O God, I am ashamed and confounded To stand before Thee with this my knowledge2כִּי כְפִי עָצְמַת גְּדֻלָתֶךָ כֵּן תַּכְלִית דַּלּוּתִי וְשִׁפְלוּתִי:That even as the might of Thy greatness, So is the completeness of my poverty and humbleness,3וּכְפִי תֹּקֶף יְכָלְתֶּךָ כֵּן חֻלְשַׁת יְכָלְתִּי.That even as the might of Thy potency So is the weakness of my ability,4וּכְפִי שְׁלֵמוּתְךָ כֵּן חֶסְרוֹנִי:And that even as Thou art perfect, so am I wanting.5כִּי אַתָּה אֶחָד וְאַתָּה חַי וְאַתָּה גִּבּוֹר וְאַתָּה קַיָּם וְאַתָּה גָדוֹל וְאַתָּה חָכָם וְאַתָּה אֱלוֹהַּ:For Thou art a Unity, and Thou art living, Thou art mighty, and Thou art permanent, And Thou art great, and Thou art wise, and Thou art God!6וַאֲנִי גוּשׁ וְרִמָּה. עָפָר מִן הָאֲדָמָה.And I am but a clod, and a worm, Dust from the ground,7כְּלִי מָלֵא כְלִמָּה. אֶבֶן דּוּמָה:A vessel full of shame, A mute stone, A passing shadow,8צֵל עוֹבֵר רוּחַ הוֹלֵךְ וְלֹא יָשׁוּב. חֲמַת עַכְשׁוּב:"A wind that fleeth away and returneth not again." To an asp akin,9עָקוֹב הַלֵּב. עֲרַל לֵב:Deceitful underneath, Uncircumcised of heart,10גְּדָל חֵמָה. חֹרֵשׁ אָוֶן וּמִרְמָה:Great in wrath, Craftsman in sin and deception,11גְּבַהּ עֵינַיִם. קְצַר אַפַּיִם. טְמֵא שְׂפָתַיִם.Haughty of eye, Short in forbearance, Impure of lips,12נֶעֱקַשׁ דְּרָכַיִם. וְאָץ בְּרַגְלָיִם:Crooked of ways, And hot-footed.13מָה אֲנִי מֶה חַיַּי וּמַה גְּבוּרָתִי. וּמַה צִדְקָתִי.What am I? What is my life? What my might and what my righteousness?14נֶחְשָׁב לְאַיִן כָּל יְמֵי הֱיוֹתִי. וְאַף כִּי אַחֲרֵי מוֹתִי:Naught is the sum of me all the days of my being, And how much the more so after my death!15מֵאַיִן מוֹצָאִי וּלְאַיִן מוֹבָאִי:From nothing I came, And to nothing I go.16וְהִנֵּה בָאתִי לְפָנֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר לֹא כַדָּת בְּעַזּוּת מֵצַח וְטֻמְאַת רַעְיוֹנִים.Lo! before Thee am I come, as one "not according to the law," With insolence of brow, And uncleanness of thoughts,17וְיֵצֶר זוֹנֶה. לְגִלּוּלָיו פּוֹנֶה:And a lewd desire On his idols turned,18וְתַאֲוָה מִתְגַּבְּרָה. וְנֶפֶשׁ לֹא מְטֹהָרָה:And lust showing itself master;19וְלֵב טָמֵא. אוֹבֵד וְנִדְמֶה:With a soul impure And a heart unclean, Perishing and corrupted,20וְגוּף נָגוּף. מְלֹא אֲסַפְסוּף. יוֹסִיף וְלֹא יָסוּף:And a body plagued With a rabble of pains Increasing until increase is impossible.

וְהִנֵּה בָאתִי לְפָנֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר לֹא כַדָּת בְּעַזּוּת מֵצַח וְטֻמְאַת רַעְיוֹנִים.
