THE ENEMY SAID: I WILL PURSUE, I WILL OVERTAKE. “The enemy” is the celestial guardian of the Egyptians. When power was given to him over Israel, he desired to make an end of them, but the Holy One remembered the “Mountains of the world” (the Patriarchs), and these shielded them.
And this applies to all the supernal guardians of the nations: they all have the same desire to do away with Israel, but the Holy One remembers the merit of the “Mountains of the world” and protects them. When Moses realized this, he sang praises to the Holy One, blessed be He, saying: WHO IS LIKE UNTO THEE AMONG THE GODS, O LORD?

וְעַל דָּא, אִינּוּן עַמִּין דִּתְחוֹת שׁוּלְטָנֵיהוֹן דְּאִינּוּן מְמָנָן, כֻּלְּהוּ גַּזְירִין גְּזִרִין לְשֵׁיצָאָה לוֹן, אֶלָּא דְּקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא דְּכַר טוּרֵי עָלְמָא, וְאָגִין עָלַיְיהוּ. וְכַד חָמָא מֹשֶׁה דָּא, שָׁרָא לְשַׁבְּחָא לְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, וְאָמַר מִי כָמוֹכָה בָּאֵלִים יְיָ'.
