And this is how it is when the Holy One, blessed be He, descends to govern the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. That is, the good is Metatron, the evil is Samael. He is a demon, king of the demons. Metatron is an angel, king of the angels. But from the angle of the Tree of Life, The Omnipotent [Shaddai] is the Foundation [Yesod]. And because of that, they are two below, the servant and its master, which are not one unit. But above, it is one, Splendor [Tiferet] and Foundation, since the body and the circumcision are considered one. For it is the middle column and the righteous one.
רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה, דְּרוֹעָא שְׂמָאלָא דְּיִצְחָק. תַּמָּן דִּינֵי נְפָשׁוֹת, וַעֲקֵדָה דְּיִצְחָק תַּמָּן הֲוָה. דְּעָקִיד לֵיהּ אַבְרָהָם. קִשּׁוּרָא דִּתְפִלָּה דְּיָד, דּוּמְיָא דַּעֲקֵדָה דְּיִצְחָק. זַכָּאָה אִיהוּ בְּרָא דְּאִתְעֲקַד בַּאֲבוֹי, וְאִתְקָשַּׁר בֵּיהּ, לְמֶעְבַּד עוֹבָדוֹהִי, בְּאוֹרַיְיתָא וּבַמִּצְוָה. וְזַכָּאָה עֶבֶד דְּאִתְקְשַּׁר תְּחוֹת רַבֵּיהּ, לְמֶעְבַּד רְעוּתֵיהּ, אִיהוּ בַּאֲתָר דִּבְרָא דְּמַלְכָּא.
מְטַטְרוֹ"ן, זַכָּאָה אַנְתְּ, וְזַכָּאִין בְּנָךְ, דְּאִינּוּן קְשִׁירִין וַעֲקִידִין בִּתְפִלִּין תְּחוֹת רְשׁוּתָא דְּמָארָךְ. וּבְגִין דָּא, אַף עַל גַּב דְּאַנְתְּ עֶבֶד לְמָארָךְ, מַלְכָּא אַנְתְּ עַל כָּל מְמָנָן דִּשְׁאַר עַמִּין. מַלְכָּא עַל כָּל מַלְאָכִין. מַלְכָּא, דְּשֵׁדִים וְכָל מַשִׁרְיָיתֵיהּ, דַחֲלִין מִנָךְ. מַאן גָּרִים דָּא, בְּגִין דְּאַנְתְּ שְׁרַפְרָף לְמָארָךְ, וְאַנְתְּ מְשַׁמֵּשׁ לְמָארָךְ. שַׁדַּי דִּמְזוּזָה לְבַר, שׁוֹמֵר הַפֶתַח. יְדוָֹ"ד דְּאִיהוּ מָארָךְ, מִלְּגָאו.
וְהָכִי אִיהוּ כַּד קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא נָחִית לְשַׁלְּטָאָה עַל עֵץ הַדַּעַת טוֹב וָרָע, דְּאִיהוּ טוֹב מְטַטְרוֹ"ן. רָע סָמָאֵל, שֵׁד, מַלְכָּא דְּשֵׁדִים. מְטַטְרוֹן מַלְאָךְ, מַלְכָּא דְּמַלְאָכִים. אֲבָל מִסִּטְרָא דְּאִילָנָא דְּחַיֵּי, שַׁדַּי אִיהוּ יְסוֹד. וּבְגִין דָּא לְמַטָּה, שְׁנַיִם, עֶבֶד וְרַבּוֹ, דְּלָאו אִינּוּן יִחוּדָא חֲדָא, וּלְמַעְלָה, אֶחָד. תִּפְאֶרֶת יְסוֹד, דְּגוּף וּבְרִית חַשְׁבֵינָן חַד, דְּאִיהִי עַמּוּדָא דְּאֶמְצָעִיתָא וְצַדִּיק.

כְּגַוְונָא דִּתְפִלִּין דְּרֹאשׁ, דְּאִיהוּ בִּינָה עַל תִּפְאֶרֶת, מִסִּטְרָא דְּאִילָנָא דְּחַיֵּי דַּאֲצִילוּת, וּמַלְכוּת תְּפִלָּה דְּיָד. הָכִי לְתַתָּא בְּאִילָנָא דְּחַיֵּי דִּבְרִיאָה, מִסִּטְרָא דְּכֻרְסְיָיא עִלָּאָה, תְּפִלִּין דְּרֹאשׁ מְטַטְרוֹן. תְּפִלִין דְּיַד דִּילֵיהּ, כִּסֵּא תַּחְתּוֹן. וְהַאי אִיהוּ דְּאָמַר נָבִיא עָלֵיהּ, (ירמיהו י״ז:י״ב) כִּסֵּא כָבוֹד מָרוֹם מֵרִאשׁוֹן.
