One does not recite a verse over a wound. One who recites over mandrakes, forbidden. One who comes and recites a verse over his son who is frightened and terrified, and wants to give him a book or tefillin so he can sleep, forbidden. But isn't it taught that they would sing the Song of Afflictions in Jerusalem? Rabbi Yudan said, in one case, before he was hurt; in the other, now that he was hurt. What is the Song of Afflictions? The "LORD, how many are my oppressors" psalm (Psalm 3), "Sitting in the shade of the Highest" to "for You, LORD, are my refuge; you set the Highest as your abode" (Psalm 91:1-9).
