אם אתה מתווכח עם חכם אל יהי לך לצער אם נצחך כי ממנו תלמוד ותוסיף חכמה אם תנצח אותו מה תרויח אבל אם נצחך בזה הרווחת אשר ידעת עתה מה שלא ידעת קודם לכן:
If you are arguing with a wise man do not feel badly if he prevails over you, inasmuch that from this you will learn and increase wisdom. If, however, you prevail over him, what is your gain? But if he is victorious you have gained since you now know what you did not know previously.
