His craziness is only because he ignores the advice of the wise. If he would take rational advice, he would be normal. His mental state might indicate to him the need to do such things as tearing his clothes and rolling in the muck. But a wiser man than he tells him not to do these things. If he would only subjugate his will to the wise, His craziness would disappear.
מִי שֶׁאֵינוֹ שׁוֹמֵעַ וּמְצַיֵּת לְדִבְרֵי חֲכָמִים אֲמִתִּיִּים הוּא יָכוֹל לְהִשְׁתַּגֵּעַ.
Ignoring the words of the truly wise can cause craziness.
כִּי עִקַּר שִׁגָּעוֹן שֶׁל כָּל הַמְשֻׁגָּעִים הוּא רַק מֵחֲמַת שֶׁהוּא אֵינוֹ מְצַיֵּת וְשׁוֹמֵעַ לְדִבְרֵי הַבַּעֲלֵי שֵׂכֶל. כִּי הַמְשֻׁגָּע, אִם הָיָה שׁוֹמֵעַ וְצַיָּת לְדִבְרֵי אֲחֵרִים שֶׁהֵם הַבַּעֲלֵי שֵׂכֶל, בְּוַדַּאי לֹא הָיָה מְשֻׁגָּע כְּלָל, כִּי אַף־עַל־פִּי שֶׁלְּפִי רוּחַ שְׁטוּת וְשִׁגָּעוֹן שֶׁלּוֹ נִדְמֶה לוֹ בְּבֵרוּר גָּמוּר שֶׁהוּא צָרִיךְ לֵילֵךְ קָרוּעַ וּלְהִתְגַּלְגֵּל בָּאַשְׁפָּה וְכַיּוֹצֵא בָּזֶה מִדַּרְכֵי הַשְּׁטוּת וְשִׁגָּעוֹן, אַף־עַל־פִּי־כֵן מֵאַחַר שֶׁהַגָּדוֹל מִמֶּנּוּ אוֹמֵר לוֹ שֶׁאֵינוֹ צָרִיךְ לַעֲשׂוֹת כֵּן, אִם הָיָה מְבַטֵּל דַּעְתּוֹ נֶגֶד דַּעַת הַגָּדוֹל מִמֶּנּוּ בְּחָכְמָה, בְּוַדַּאי הָיָה מִתְבַּטֵּל כָּל הַשִּׁגָּעוֹן שֶׁלּוֹ.

Craziness therefore results only from ignoring the wise. Understand this well.
