1שָׁמַעְתִּי בִּשְׁמוֹ, מֵאִישׁ אֶחָד שֶׁדִּבֵּר עִמּוֹ. וְהִזְהִירוֹ לְהִתְפַּלֵּל בְּכַוָּנָה.The Rebbe once spoke to one of his followers about praying with devotion.2וְאָמַר לוֹ: שֶׁכְּמוֹ שֶׁהַקּוֹל מְעוֹרֵר הַכַּוָּנָה, כֵּן לְהֵפֶךְ, הַכַּוָּנָה מְעוֹרֵר הַקּוֹל.He said, “Voice arouses feeling.368Shelah, quoted in Kitzur Shulchan Arukh 6:1. The opposite is also true, for feeling can also arouse the voice.3שֶׁכְּשֶׁמִּתְפַּלֵּל בְּכַוָּנָה וְנִזְהָר לְהַכְנִיס כָּל לִבּוֹ וּמַחֲשַׁבְתּוֹ בְּתוֹךְ דִּבּוּרֵי הַתְּפִלָּה, אֲזַי מִמֵּילָא יִתְעוֹרֵר קוֹלוֹ לְהִתְפַּלֵּל בְּקוֹל כָּרָאוּי. וְכֵן נִרְאֶה בְּחוּשׁ כַּמָּה פְּעָמִים.“Pray with feeling. Bring every thought and emotion into each word. Your voice will automatically be awakened and you will pray out loud.” This has been seen many times.
