אמר הרה"ק מוהר"פ מקאריץ, מהרמב"ן עד האר"י, ומהאר"י עד הבעל שם טוב, ומהבעש"ט עד לו, במה נשמות נאבדו בקליפות, שלא היה מי שיעלה אותם, עוד אמר שמהרמב"ן עד האר"י, ומהאר"י עד הבעל שם טוב ומהבעל שם טוב עד לו, לא היו אנשים שילכו בעליות העולמות, וממנו לא יהיה עד ביאת משיח. (מדרש פינחס החדש אות ק"כ).
The holy Rabbi Pinchas of Koretz14A disciple of the Baal Shem Tov (1726-1791). said: “From the Ramban15Rabbi Moses ben Nachman (1194-1270). until the Ari,16Rabbi Isaac Luria (1534-1572). and from the Ari until the Baal Shem Tov, and from the Baal Shem Tov until me, there were many souls lost in the kelipot, with no one to uplift them.” He also said: “From the Ramban until the Ari, and from the Ari until the Baal Shem Tov, and from the Baal Shem Tov until me, there was no one [else] who could ascend to the supernal worlds. And after me, there won’t be another, until the coming of the Moshiach.” Midrash Pinchas HaChadash 120
