קח נא את בנך את יחידך אשר אהבת את יצחק וגו', והעלהו שם לעולה וגו'. שמעתי [ממורי] את יצחק והעלהו לעולה, כי על ידי הצחוק והשמחה לשם שמים מעלה כל ימי הצחוק של בחרות גם כן למעלה, והבן, וכן ויקח את שני נעריו עמו, ר"ל להעלות השנים של נערות גם כן עמו ודפח"ח: (בן פורת יוסף תולדות פן ה' דמ"ט ע"ג).
And it happened after these things, that G-d tested Abraham, and said to him: 'Abraham'; and he said: 'Here am I.’ And He said: 'Take now you son, your only son, whom you love – Isaac – and go to the land of Moriah; and offer him there as a burnt-offering on one of the mountains that I will designate to you.' (ibid. 22:1-2) Laughter and joy for the sake of G-d elevates all the laughter of adolescence. Understand this! Thus, it is written: “And he took with him two young men (shnei ne’arov)” (ibid. 22:2). That is, he also uplifted the years of his adolescence (shanim shel na’aros).1The word “two,” שני and “years,” שנים are homonymous. Ben Poras Yosef, p. 49c
