אמרו רבותינו ז"ל (פסחים דקי"ז ע"א, זוהר נח דס"ז ע"א) כל מקום שנאמר מזמור לדוד היה מנגן ואחר כך שרתה עליו שכינה, מזמור להביא רוח הקודש לדוד, וכל שנאמר בו לדוד מזמור שרתה עליו שכינה ורוח הקודש ואחר כך אמר שירה, והנה באמירתנו ספר תהלים יש לנו ליבוש ולהכלם, דאימתי רוח הקודש שורה עלינו קודם האמירה או אחר כך, על כן יראה לומר בקדושה ובטהרה, באימה וביראה: (כתר שם טוב ח"ב ד"ד ע"ד)
Our Rabbis have said: “Where a Psalms begins ‘A song to David,’ it means that David would play, and the Divine Presence would rest upon him afterward. “A song to bring holy inspiration to David.”23Pesachim 117a; Zohar 1:67a. According to that, we should be completely ashamed how we say Psalms, for when does holy inspiration come on us before or after we say Psalms.
