שמעתי ענין בכל דרכיך דעהו (משלי ג׳:ו׳) גם בסיפורי דברים שעם חבירו יכוון שהוא כדי שיתקרב אצלו, ואז אם יבקש ממנו אחר כך שיעשה איזה דבר מצוה ויראת השם יתברך, ימלא משאלתו, על ידי שנתקרב כבר אצלו, בסיפורי דברים בעלמא, והוא סוד ו' כורע לגבי ה' להעלותה והבן וכו' והוא יחוד גדול: (תוי"י תרומה ד"ע ע"ד).
Even when you simply relate events to your friends, you should intent to draw close to G-d. Then, if someone asks you to do some mitzvah or pious act, you can fulfill their request, since you already close to G-d in the mundane talk.
