שמעתי ממורי זלה"ה יתרון האור הנמשך מן החושך וכו', ודפח"ח, ויש בכלל זה יתרון האור הנמשך מן חושך של עצמו או מחושך של זולתו, וזהו ביאור הכתוב ויהי ערב ויהי בוקר יום אחד כו': (תולדות יעקב יוסף פ' משפטים ד"ע ע"ב, דברים דקע"ו ע"א).
“Like the advantage of light when it is drawn from darkness.” This also refers to the advantage of light of one’s own darkness, or the darkness of another. And this is the meaning of the verse: “And it was evening, and it was morning, one day.” Toldos Yaakov Yosef, p. 70b, 176a
