Ba'al Shem Tov · Re'eh, Chapter 15

‹›
  1. 1

You shall surely open your hand wide to him, and lend him enough for his needs in that which he lacks. (ibid.)
The first letters of the words “enough for his needs in that which he lacks” (dai machsoro asher yechsar lo) have the numerical value of the word “mouth” (peh, 85). And the final letters have the numerical value of the word “writing” (ketav, 422). This teaches us that even if you can not help a poor man verbally,8Perhaps the Baal Shem Tov means by speaking to rich people on his behalf. at least write him a letter of recommendation.
    Yalkut Moshe m’Tzefat
