שמענו מאת הרב הקדוש הבעל שם טוב זלה"ה עם תלמידו הרה"ק מוהר"ר דוב בער ממעזריטש זלה"ה זי"ע אשר לא היה רצונו להיות כפוף אליו לבוא אצלו, רק על ידי סיבה חסרון הבריאות שהיה חולה מאוד ובא אל הבעש"ט לבקש ממנו עזר ותרופה, וכן עשה הבעש"ט להצמיח לו רפואה על ידי תחנות ובקשות לאלהים, ועל פי מופת, ועל ידי זה נתגלגל הדבר למסור לו כל מעיינות החכמה וזכה להיות מנהיג הדור, ועודנו מתנוצץ אור קדושתו מתלמידיהם הבאים אחריהם בכל דור ודור, מפיהם אנו חיים עד ביאת הגואל במהרה בימינו, והבעל שם טוב זלה"ה היה מוכרח לזה להראות לו על פי מופת למען השיגו תחת כנפיו. Rabbi Dov Ber (the Maggid) of Mezritch did not want to subjugate himself to the Baal Shem Tov and come to see him. It was only due to his extremely poor health that he sought the Baal Shem Tov’s help and treatment. And so, the Baal Shem Tov began his recovery through prayers, supplications to G-d, and miracles. Eventually, he transmitted to him all of the wellsprings of his wisdom, so that the Maggid was worthy to become the leader of the generation. The light of his holiness still shines via his disciples from generation to generation. From their words we live, until the coming of the Redeemer, may it be soon in our days.
